The results of complex examination and surgical treatment of 230 patients with atherosclerotic lesions of the carotid arteries were analyzed. The study included patients with: symptomatic internal carotid artery stenosis (ICA) more than 50%; asymptomatic ICA stenosis more than 70%; unstable ICA plaque, impaired vision. We used the NIHSS stroke severity scale. Patients with symptomatic ICA lesions are the most at risk for recurrent stroke, foci of ischemia, and neurological deficits are necessary to predict the effectiveness and success of surgical treatment.
